Mr. Shoemaker practices primarily in the areas of workers' compensation defense, general civil litigation, and bankruptcy.

Mr. Shoemaker graduated from Wake Forest University (B.A., magna cum laude, 2000) and Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D. 2003). Mr. Shoemaker majored in Political Science and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In law school, Mr. Shoemaker served as the Research Editor for the Wake Forest Law Review. As a member of the Law Review, Mr. Shoemaker authored, Missing the Point: Befuddled by Bakke, Most Courts Fail to Challenge the Problematic Proxy Fostered by Justice Powell's Diversity Rationale, 37 Wake Forest L. Rev. 1113, 2002, concerning the use of race in college admissions. Mr. Shoemaker's article received the prestigious Law Review Award, given for the most outstanding Note or Comment written during 2001-2002. In addition, Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the Moot Court Board and served as an Editor of the nationally distributed Wake Forest Moot Court Problem Book. Mr. Shoemaker is a member of the Gaston County, North Carolina, and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and before the U.S. District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of North Carolina.

In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Shoemaker is active in the Gaston County Community. He is on the Board of the Gaston County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Gastonia Jaycees, advisor for the Highland School of Technology Moot Court Team, volunteer for the United Way, and a graduate of Leadership Gaston. Mr. Shoemaker resides in Mount Holly.
