JAMES R. MARTIN Mr. Martin practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, including workers' compensation, insurance defense, mental health law, bankruptcy, utilities, collections and personal injury. Mr. Martin is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina. He graduated from Cornell University (B.A., History, 1994) and from Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D. 1997, cum laude). In law school he was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review from 1995-1997 and was awarded the Order of the Coif. Mr. Martin is the author of an article entitled A Proposal to Reform the North Carolina Workers' Compensation Act to Address Mental-Mental Claims, 32 Wake Forest L. Rev. 193 (1997). Mr. Martin is a member of the Gaston County, North Carolina, South Carolina, and American Bar Associations. He served as President of the Gaston County Bar Association and the 27A-Judicial District for the 2003-2004 year, and previously served as Treasurer and Vice President of those organizations. In additional to his professional activities, Mr. Martin is member of the Volunteer Lawyers' Committee for Legal Aid and Director at Large for the Cornell Club of Charlotte. James R.
