REID McGRAW, JR. Mr. McGraw practices primarily in the areas of workers' compensation, civil litigation, and hospital and health care law. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English and Post Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (1984) . He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law (1989) where he was awarded the highest honor for Trial Practice . Mr. McGraw is a certified mediator, having received his training at the Duke University Private Adjudication Center. He is certified to mediate cases before the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts, United States District Court, State Superior Court, and the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Mr. McGraw is a member of the Gaston County, North Carolina and American Bar Associations and the North Carolina State Bar. In the fields of workers' compensation, he has authored and presented continuing legal education programs on various topics, including Legal Defenses-Do They Exist and What are They?; The Hearing Process and How to Prepare for it; The Evolution of Stress Claims in North Carolina; and The Plaintiffs Role and How it Complicates the Workers' Compensation Process ; and, The Accident and and Course and Scope Requirement in N.C. Workers' Compensation . In addition he has co-authored materials for continuing legal education, including Advanced Workers' Compensation in North Carolina, and Workers' Compensation Claims: Precautions to Take to Avoid Being Defrauded. In addition to his professional activities, Mr. McGraw serves on the Wake Forest School of Law Board of Visitors, the Board of Trustees for Gaston Christian School and as Chair of the Board for the Gaston Gators Organization. He has also served on the Gaston County Bar Grievance Committee, as the Judicial District Representative for the Gaston County Moot Court Competition , on the Advisory Board for the Voluntary Lawyers Program, as a director of the Gastonia Civitan Club, and on the Public Relations Committee for the United Way of Gaston County.
